CYAC Programs & Events

Community Youth Athletic Center is a successful youth development program offering opportunities for underprivileged and disadvantaged youth using athletic and educational excellence as our model. CYAC was located in a 400 square foot converted garage on the National City, San Diego border. With the purchase of a new building we are now in the heart of National City. The program's hours are from 4:30 to 8:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. Although we were working with limited space the program has produced many high achievers in the classroom and in the ring.

Olympic Style Boxing Program:
We provide personal conditioning and a fitness training regiment to our participants. Developing self worth and self-esteem, respect for themselves and others, discipline and a sense of accomplishment and achievement are part of our focus.
USA Amateur Boxing Events:
Our youth participate in local and national level competition. We expose participants to other cities, states and athletes who are involved with similar positive programs.
Mentoring:
Law enforcement and professional volunteers mentor the participants involved with the program. Exposing our youth to positive activities such as outings to city and county government, baseball/football games, soap box derbies and other weekend events.
Employment Opportunities:
Through partnerships with community business and law enforcement agencies CYAC provides personal growth opportunities to low income youth.
Educational Enhancement:
CYAC maintains close contact with parents and schools on the participants' academic progress. USA Boxing and law enforcement have made available scholarship opportunities for youth involved with the program. We have a volunteer tutor present at the center on a daily basis. We want to produce young people who desire to succeed in life.

CYAC has an ongoing timeline for meeting these objectives starting from the time they are in elementary school until they graduate from high school.
